Porphyry is a volcanic rock, whose formation
in the Trentino Alto Adige Region traces back to the so-called
"Lower Permian". From the geological and mining
point of view, the porphyry stone is the effusive correspondent
of granite. This volcanic rock belongs to the "Atesina
Porphyry Platform", which is the result of an intense
volcanic activity began 260 millions of years ago.
The technical characteristics of this material (high compression
breaking point, high resistance to chemical agents, high resistance
to sudden changes in temperature) make porphyry one of the
hardest and most resistant stones quarried in Europe.
Thanks to its gifts of versatility and easiness in working,
the porphyry stone is employed with great success in the paving
and facing both for outdoors and indoors, with optimal architectural
results. With porphyry are paved the most important European
squares and a lot of areas around the world.
A vast range of articles is available both raw and carved,
in a lot of forms and measures and with many grades of finish.
Everything the building trade needs can be realized with porphyry
stone.
